| New Launch: Bloemsma 48m "Flying Eagle" Off to a Flying Start...
Largest yacht to date launched from Bloemsma & van Breemen’s new facility.
{Makkum, The Netherlands: 16st May 2005} Bloemsma & van Breemen has announced the launch of Flying Eagle, at over 48 meters, it's the largest project thus far completed by this up-and-coming Dutch yard. Flying Eagle is the first superyacht to be completed in the yard’s new state-of-the-art production facilities.
Flying Eagle draws on the expertise of some of the most respected names in the yachting industry, such as Reymond Langton Design, Struik & Hamerslag and Vripack Naval Architects.
This modern displacement yacht comprises four distinct decks. On the main deck, the dining area and galley are located aft, with the salon is just forward. Further forward, the owner’s suite begins with a foyer and opens onto a full-beam stateroom. Moving up to the wheelhouse on the bridge deck, the sky lounge gives panoramic views. The sundeck provides ample space for relaxation, with lots of sun pads, a barbecue and a large Jacuzzi. The lower deck contains the crew’s quarters and accommodations for eight guests, each area with its own individual entrance.
The tender on Flying Eagle is six metres in length, making conventional storage impractical: Bloemsma & van Breemen cooperated with Vripack to devise a special slide-in launch system with a foldaway platform and a stern bay. This smart solution was made possible by connecting the rudders of the boat electronically as opposed to mechanically. It also significantly improved Flying Eagle’s steering performance.
Other high-tech onboard systems comprise audio-video alarm systems by Intelect Integrated Electronics, stabilisers for neutralising roll and pitch at anchor, and the electric-hydraulic rudder system by Van der Velden Marine Systems. Flying Eagle has a spacious engine room and - uniquely for a yacht of her size - separate control and generator rooms. Two powerful Caterpillar 3512 engines provide a cruising speed of 14 knots (max 16 knots) and a range of 4,000 nautical miles.
Flying Eagle will make her public debut at the upcoming Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. Meanwhile, Bloemsma & van Breemen is completing the 90-foot Griffioen, designed by De Vries Lentsch, before starting on its next project.
