boat insurance

Hello. I am purchasing a new(haha)1972 Bertram31 sport fish. Before I take possession I was wondering whether anybody insures them, since its so old. I hope someone can direct me to an insurance company. I called my insurance company I had for my Pacemaker(allstate) and they said it was too old. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks

Try calling an independent agent. Allstate doesn't like things near the water .

Insurance

I seem to think that I was able to go thru an independent Allstate agent. I actually got a pretty decent rate too! But come to think of it, youre right. They said they wouldn't insure anything older than 25 years. I barely got by with my 87 Bertram.

Best,
Alex

An independent agent represents many companies. Allstate agents represent Allstate. After many, many years I dumped them for everything.

I was told by my broker that my insurance carrier would no longer insure my boat because it was over 25 yrs old.
I never had a claim and my boat is in pretty DARN good shape .
The broker said they would try to find another carrier and I thought " yeah, right".
They called back about a month later with a new insurance company the same coverage and a slightly higher premium.
They did not require another survey either.
The broker is National Marine Underwriters inc.
1-800-BOAT- INS if your interested.
