Benetti 85'

Benetti Yachts IT, have have just added the Benetti 85 footer to their portfolio. A smaller yacht by their standards, the 85 packs no less character. This vessel was fashioned from all composite materials and has a friendly, easy-going personality. Her name is Legend.

The vessel has an overall length of 85 feet while the beam is an impressive 23 feet-quite roomy for such a short yacht-. An shallow draught of 5.5 feet allows easy access to the most shallow of coves.

To power the 85 foot Legend, Benetti employed 2 X CAT C15 ACERT 850 HP marine engines. Backed up by 2 X Kohler 40 KW GEN SETS for electrical power. At full power, the engines give her a top speed of around 13 knots while a cruise speed of 12.5 knots or less is also attainable for economical cruising. A range of 1,500 NM is realized at 10 knots continuously.

This vessel was introduced in late 2007 at the Monaco Yacht Show and brought significant attention to itself. The interior is well thought out with a pronounced color of caramel pervading throughout. Various materials were used to seamlessly integrate to the main color choice.

The accommodation appears to be set out in a Master, VIP, and a twin guest, likely to be paying host for possibly up to 7 guests.

I don't see this yacht as being popular. Very few people want a Hatteras type 85' that will only do 13 knots, yet only has a range of 1500NM. Most want a 85' yacht that will cruise at 25 knots nowadays. If not they'll go to a Nordhaven or Northern Marine long range trawler that cruises at the same speed and has at least double the range. That and the styling is a little bubbly for my tastes. It's too in-between, in my opinion.
