Azimut premiers Magellano 50'
The Magellano 50-footer by Italian brand Azimut is not the ordinary yacht for its size. In fact, she has the distinction of being a very green yacht. Green not by color but by being environmentally friendly to its surroundings. The Magellano 50' has been approved by the Rina Green Plus class notation which is a plus in the environmentally conscious minds of potential owners.
She features Easy Hybrid engines which of course allows the ability to switch to electrical power if desired. Having said that the Magellano 50' can cruise up to 8 knots under electrical power alone. The advantage of electrical motors is that there is little to no noise when running and less of a 'carbon footprint' so-to-speak, by the yacht. Coupled with the electrical motors, there are twin Cummins diesels rated at 425 horse power.
However, this is not the only area where the green concept has been used on the Magellano 50'. The interior also showcases these environmentally conscious touches and features. The wood used throughout the interior are all certified to have come from sustainable forests where the used trees for the yacht are replanted.
There are also LED technology used for the lighting onboard as well as specially film- treated glass for the windows reducing the heat exchange thereby further reducing cooling and heating costs. The design of the yacht has been done by Cor D Rover while the interior styling is by Azimut. There is room for two to three guest cabins depending on the configuration.
The 25 tonne Magellano 50' has a top speed near 22 knots and a cruising or 18 knots. There is a fuel tank capacity of approximately 3,000 LT and fresh water capacity of 700 LT. The Magellano 50' made her public debut at the recently concluded 2010 Genoa Boat Show.
