There is nothing like doing it thrice! This can be said of the owner of the new Kokomo. Not to be outdone, this will be his third luxury sailer under the same name built by the same ship yard. It seems he is building a bit bigger each time.
Kokomo III is to be a whopping 58M long, that is nearly 200 feet. When launched she will surely eclipse the s/y Tiara for being the largest launch from the Alloy yard. To accommodate the impending launch of the Kokomo III in December 2009, the yard will have to extend two building bays and dredge a deeper pit for her.
Designed by Dubois Naval Architects and having an interior by Redman Whiteley Dixon, her design can be said to be in safe hands. The dimensions of this yacht will be significant. A 234.3 foot carbon fiber mast, an overall hull length of 191 feet, beam of 36 feet and a maximum draft of a whopping 26.5 feet make up the main dimensions.
Inside, the accommodations will be separated into an owner's stateroom, four individual guest rooms all with ensuite facilities and crew accommodations. The crew accommodations will be separated into the Captain's room, Engineer's room and four other rooms for the other crew. All will feature ensuite facilities, the advantage of a large yacht!
Power will be provided by way of 2 X CAT 872 HP diesel engines. Connected to them will be Hundested variable pitch propellers. Kokomo III will be constructed to meet the stipulations of the Lloyd’s X100 A1 SSC YACHT MONO G6 MCH classification.
