Bearing a similar exterior styling to the Abeking & Rasmussen Aviva, hull number 6478- the Excellence IV- is set to be the largest private mega yacht constructed at the German facility. Excellence IV is in no way a contender for the title of world’s largest yacht, however, she features some astounding dimensions.

Her hull is 78.50 M (259.05 feet) long and 12.40M (40.92 feet) wide with a draught of 3.20M (10.56 feet). Abeking & Rasmussen are really working hard on this project, as it is and will represent a milestone in their yacht construction capabilities.

The exterior styling and interior of the Excellence IV was developed by the popularly known Reymond & Langton Designs with the naval architecture by Abeking & Rasmussen. This five-deck mega yacht has a steel hull and aluminum superstructure.

With her enormous beam of nearly 41 feet (12.40M), her hull can be optimally utilized. The well tested tender launch and recovery system perfected by A&R will be utilized on Excellence IV. This particular system will be used for the two sizable tenders stored in the aft of the yacht.

To be precise, the 7M (23.10 feet) wide swim platform can be lowered to provide an area to launch swim related activities. Hidden behind large retractable screens are the two tenders. One of these tenders is to be an impressive 10M (33 foot) long limousine. The other is to be an 8M (26.40 feet) long Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat, RIB.

Excellence IV is to be a robustly built private yacht. In addition, she is to feature high performance characteristics for a yacht of her size. The 78.5M vessel is to have a pair of 1492KW CAT engines. These will propel her at a speed of 16.5 knots and with a slower economical speed; a range of about 6,000NM is attainable.

Excellence IV is likely to be the successor to the current charter yacht, Excellence III. As the owner is a reputable repeat client, the interior layout will be tailored to meet their needs. On collaboration with the interior designer and A&R, the owner will receive a very large area for themselves.

This area includes a sizable library and office. The owners’ suite will also be of a full beam configuration and feature a raised bedroom platform. This will ensure stunning panoramic views from the bedroom area. Other features of the owner’s suite include spacious lounging areas, dressing region, two large bathrooms and a personal gym. The owners’ bathrooms are to be fashioned in Onyx Miele natural stone.

A total of 6 guest cabins are to be located on the main and lower decks. It can be imagined that the Excellence IV is likely to carry up to 12 guests. Two of these guest cabins will be VIP suites. En-suite bathrooms will be clad in Onyx and Estremoz materials. The crew will also be accommodated on the lower decks along with two sizable crew messes.

Alternatively, other public spaces will include the vast main saloon. The main saloon is located on the main deck and will feature a bounty of seating and lounging areas. There is to be an entertainment area encompassing a grand piano, card table and a bar. The specially designed and tailored cinema will be located on the came deck.

Other public spaces include the sumptuously appointed Dining Room. This space is designed to offer comfort while eating and socializing in a luxurious atmosphere. The large table will seat up to 16 persons. The Dining Room is to be located on the aft of the upper/owners guests. Owing to its location (the dining room) guests can have the opportunity to venture out to the open aft deck.

There will be nice features on the outdoor decks of the Excellence IV for the guests. There will be the expansive open -teak finished- deck regions and shaded areas to relax. Shade will be provided by electrically operated awnings on the sun deck.

One of the main features of the sundeck will be a cylindrical glass that appears to protrude through the fore of the sundeck. This cylindrical glass will be the top of a stunning elevator. A sizable Jacuzzi is to be located forward of the radar mast. The Jacuzzi is to be flanked by an array of sun beds and pads.

For now, she is on course for completion in early to mid 2008. Excellence IV will be constructed to meet the stipulations set out by Lloyds and the MCA.

Hull 6478, the 78.50M newbuild at Abeking & Rasmussen has been launched. Her name is Eminence and not Excellence IV. She is really beautiful with a hull reminicent to that of the Trinity Destination Fox Harb'r Too.

That is quite interesting Carl, in the first photo, it shows the alongside/tender boarding ladder angled forward. On most yachts they are angled backwards and facing aft!

As I look at the Lemerder web cam, Eminence is gone. She has finished her trials so I believe she has been delivered now.
