New 147' Abeking & Rasmussen

New ABEKING & RASMUSSEN 147' is waiting for a new owner...

When Abeking & Rasmussen delivered BRAVADO at the end of July 2004, six weeks prior to the signed date, the owner was happy that his new yacht could make it in time for the Olympic Games at Athens. He even could cruise the Baltic for some days before the crew headed south.

Almost parallel to BRAVADO, a near sister ship was taking shape, but built without a customer order. The positive public feed back triggered by the deliveries of ZENOBIA, EXCELLENCE III or KWIKUMAT, moved Abeking & Rasmussen’s boss Herman Schaedla to keep his staff busy, by building another yacht at the same time.

It is not easy setting up an interior which leaves enough room to realize the imaginations of a still unknown owner at a later stage. As Reymond Langton Design followed their interior philosophy of what they did on BRAVADO, the yards contracted Joinery Company Rodieck again for dark mahogany panelling on the walls, but left out many areas for fabrics, paintings, large TV sets and other methods for an individual styling. The carpets are still missing and, of course, almost all the furniture. The future owner will have the nearly unique advantage in getting a new beautiful and fully operational yacht with timeless styling within a few short weeks.

The principal premises for this still unchristened luxury 44.90 m steel twin screw diesel motor yacht are accommodation for 10 to 12 persons (owner and guests plus 7 crew) and the 500 GRT limit. Built to highest standards for worldwide cruising, following the rules of Lloyd’s SSC to obtain the 100A1 notation, Yacht, Mono, G6, LMC, the yacht has been designed for one-compartment free-flooding damage stability criteria, to meet the IMO-rules for intact stability and according to the requirements of MCA for registration in the United Kingdom or Red Ensign Flag Administration as commercial motor vessel carrying not more than 12 passengers. As usual, Abeking & Rasmussen paid special attention to noise reduction and great sea keeping characteristics. The accommodation is laid out over four decks: lower deck, main deck, boat deck and sundeck.

Like BRAVADO, this yard number 6466 has a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, 6 watertight bulkheads and double bottom tanks for fuel, freshwater, sanitary sump, sewage water, clean and dirty luboil. Her hull is based on the same modular construction systems proven by her larger predecessors EXCELLENCE III and ZENOBIA. Again, the naval architecture was accomplished in house by Abeking & Rasmussen’s engineering department. For excellent seaworthiness even at anchor the yacht has been equipped with two extra large Quantum stabilizers.

MTU supplied the two main engines: type 16V 2000 M60 with 800 kW maximum continuous each for a cruising speed of 11 knots. The propeller shafts in special oil bath stern tube at hull penetration with water lubricated rubber bearings at shaft strut drive the five-bladed fixed pitch bronze propellers. The yacht has got two 175 kW MTU diesel generators sets with 230/400 VAC, 3 phase, 50 cycles, both flexible mounted with sound insulating covers.

The carefully arranged spaces provide the imagination of a much larger yacht. Grained dark mahogany with a satin finish, marble and granite are the basic in-gredients for the full width owner’s suite located on the main deck forward with en-suite dressing room, bath room and office, for the large VIP cabin with a fantastic view on bridge deck and for the four guest cabins located on lower deck amidships. The total inside living area for owner and guests sums up to 220 square metres (2365 sqft.), the six crew with quarters on the lower deck have 85 square metres (913 sqft.) with the future captain living in a nice dou-ble captain on the bridge deck next to the wheelhouse. Two spacious aft exte-rior decks on main deck and bridge deck are topped by an impressive sun deck area.
