Then there's an older 60' Jim Smith, repowered with 1360 HP MAN's that no one wanted to race at the "Custom Boat Shootout" if the ocean was calm. I've also been on the 61' Tribute, ex. Speed Merchant 46.8 kts with only 1150 HP MTU's. If speed is the only consideration, Tribute is a good choice. If, however, you want speed and ride, I think that Jarrett Bay, Spencer, and my personal favorite, F&S are three that I would consider in customs for speed and seakeeping ability. I'm sure there are some great small custom builders that offer the same. Hightower marine will be launching their first 63' SF next month. I'll be there for the sea trial and report back.

I agree, fastest all around or in a sea are two totally different things. There is also a 57' Revenge called "cookie too" that boat supposedly does 50 knots+ with twin MAN 1100 common rails and the boat is a 1987ish but built out of Carbon Fiber.

I've had the pleasure of working on a 75' Jim Smith SF and it was pretty fast with a 35 knot cruise and 44 knot tops........
