I have found a great story all about Aphrodite's history and her 1983/84 restoration in an old Nautical Quarterly #36 (winter 1986). One great photo shows her on the Purdy Boat Co. ways in 1937. Beautiful boat!

A few years back, naval architect Michael Harling at Seaforth Marine www.seaforthmarine.com designed a 58' commuter yacht with a mix of styling from this era and from Thames riverboats from his childhood. Power will be twin 1300hp in a double stepped Kevlar hull. The cabins will be mahogany veneered like "Plum Duff" (Admiral), complete with fwd jump seat.
I am so suprised no one has stepped up to the plate on building this one. She'd be a real head turner!
We built a 3/8" scale model of her (attached).
