Porsche Design is a design studio owned and operated by the same Porsche Automobile Company who builds the great road cars. They style things like sun glasses and coffee makers (for Bosch), etc. The engineering arm of this company provides consulting for companies such as Volvo, back when Volvo ventured into the 4-valve cylinder head (back in the mid 80's when they first produced their 740 16v motor).
Interesting to see they're doing boats too. Also interesting to know that even though they sell their engineering talent to others, they have their Cayenne transmissions built in Japan by Aisian. They're good transmissions, I understand, except for the fact that nobody in the US or UK or anywhere else is able to work on them, and if you have a problem you have to exchange the unit for one sent in by the factory. Ouch!
To answer the gentleman's question, is this the same company as the auto manufacturer, the answer is "yes" (it is their design studio).
