Fat arse on the Range Rover, don't like it..

I am in the market for a new car right now but can't find a reasonable priced diesel station wagon or SUV..None of the US brands make a diesel, Jeep is thinking about/maybe putting an Italian made diesel engine in the Grand Cherokee in 2013.

The new porky Mercedes ML comes with a diesel but prices start in the low $50s and by the time you get to the dealer, the sticker prices are $62K because of optional packages, etc...

Same with the BMW X5 and the Audis, low $60s.

Would love a Volvo or Mercedes E series Wagon with a diesel, but no, they don't send 'em this way, neither does the Japanese or the Koreans.
The new WV Passat is supposed to come out with a Wagon AND a Diesel, but not yet, and not at the same time. (Wagon first, then later on, diesel)

My other option is a US made 2500 series pick-up truck with a diesel engine, but don't need no truck anymore, could use a wagon for my 94 lbs doberman and my grocery and hardware shopping, but not a big pick-up...

ANy suggestions? Did I forget to look at a brand or a model....?
