At the wheel, my top is 118 (with 20' of Allison Kevlar beneath and 370HP of Merc behind me) but as a ride-along, my top is 157. It's less dramatic than most would think, particularly if you have a flat to slight chop day and the ride is up high and dry as it should be.

When you run those kinds of speeds, you've got 2-3 prop blades and the lower units in the water, plus maybe a foot to a few feet of hull wet at most. Flotsam might break the motors, but you'll still float if you don't flip.
