Lurssen delivers 180-meter superyacht "Azzam"
"Azzam" is now officially the largest superyacht in the world, ironically taking that title from a yacht called "Eclipse". Nauta Design has been responsible for the exterior design of this record-breaking superyacht while the interior was put together by Christophe Leoni, CL Decor. Of course, engineering and construction was by Fr. Lurssen Werft.
has been built slightly less than three years from steel cutting following one year of engineering which is a phenomenal feat for such a large vessel to superyacht standards. She's no slouch either, at 180-meters, her extraordinary length does not keep her back. Azzam
is capable of 30+ knots if needed. Azzam is powered by four engines -two diesels and two gas turbines-, connected to water-jets, producing 94,000 horse power.
Christophe Leoni responsible for the vast interior design is more-than delighted to have been able to realize a sophisticated and luxurious interior in a turn of the century Empire style. It should be of no surprise that on a superyacht of this proportion that internal spaces are vast. Azzam
shows off an open-plan style main salon that measures a staggering 29-meters by 18-meters.
