Nick Mezas Designed 75m Superyacht
An Innovative Expression by Netherlands Yacht Designer Nick Mezas

Visions of “What Marvelous Floating Palace Will Be Next” continually dominate
the artistic minds and dreams of naval architects as they visualize tomorrow,
next summer, or perhaps a few long years down the road of yachting life.

Ultimately, a presentation of that rare vision emerges into the next step; a designer’s charming fantasy or sprite idea unveiling itself to become the glamorous model of a yacht builder’s dream. The designer’s vision, in this case, says Nick Mezas, beams in on “providing a visual and physical connection with the yacht’s natural surroundings”.
This lovely yacht; her name “R&R” fulfills this designer’s fantasy creation, as the clever and contemporary design is presented to give the ultimate expression of, yes, “Rest & Relaxation.” That is the basic intent designer Nick Meza started out with, and has apparently succeeded in, in Spades. She’s a large vessel, requiring a crew of 19; which is certainly, we might suppose, living quite well while servicing a man and wife, three children; plus perhaps six guests in double state rooms on the main deck. Onboard crew navigation is carefully addressed to provide a high level of service without undue passage into guest space. Yet crew cabins are well situated and sized.
With four utile decks to display her overall amenities, this picture shows her open lay-out back deck, for sun-bathing and stern/tender/runabout access. Notice the preceding pic shows it closed. Other decks also have been designed to serve a particular purpose. The general layout includes a main deck dining room as well as a bar and library, plus a reading corner and a fine cinema. Other functions are attended to as well. The lounge deck also offers a solar panel roof terrace as well as a fitness room.
Her Main Salon is crisply laid out with a large central gathering couch for games, plus well padded seating at both beams, with a 59” TV screen to insure all viewers an open view. Upholstery is lavish white stain-proof pseudo leather. All areas have been thoughtfully devised for the individual owner who is dedicated to energetic, fun times on the water, with sporty visual/physical attention to family activities.
Yet, perhaps the most unusual addition to this spectacular “designer-vision” is its “Beach Area” which expands when the side hatches are opened outside. It showcases a large pool, with a sunbathing area, space for sunning pads; as well as a shaded seating area. Other “outside”areas for owners and guests are on the lounge and bridge deck.
Her Lounge deck provides extra gathering /play space, sun-bathing, as well as a bar -dining room presenting all-around window views to the far horizon; (plus easy conversation hook-ups with next door neighbors in the adjoining slips). “Rest and Recreation,” says the designer, “is the main conceptual thought here; a visual and physical connection with the yacht and its passengers/crew, completely absorbed in its owners’ individual activities, preferences, and the surrounding atmosphere.”
Aboard, the yacht’s main deck includes its dining room plus the library corner, and below, the cinema, with an endless show library. It’s possibile to program ahead or view old time favorites as preferred. An alternate view of the Main Salon highlights her 54” television and rounded seating as well as comfortable furnishings and polished mahogany wood wall treatment. All upholstery is carefully managed to be weather and salt air resistant.
A sparkling Piano Bar sets the stage for grand entertainment and elegant parties in the upper deck’s amusement /soiree function.
An alternate view of the Piano Bar reveals a four-row set-up of bar stools, affirming the Designer’s roomy yet concentrated design sense.
Dining in her spacious and well organized gathering room, this voluptuous lady seats twelve at her long elliptical table. Seating follows the theme of stark white against deep dark, almost black, yet nicely finished woods embellishing the stainless steel-based chairs. Excellent, tasteful interior design, with carved wood-based walls echoed in her reflective ceiling.
Her Master Suite, up top, provides a private and intimate living room, complete with walk-in closets, double bathrooms; all flaunting fine design in the prevailing decor. Special features on the owner’s deck are sliding walls which connect to the children’s rooms, providing quick and readily available access.
Above all, in its own central space, her Master Suite sets the actual design flavor of this yacht; spacious, well organized, a room that is a view in itself. Centered is the king-size berth, reflecting and beautifying its space; centered within its spacious deck. Here the angular art motif expresses itself to the full, setting the designer’s mode for the entire yacht.
Extras, not pictured in this relatively concise feature: the Lovely Lady sports an outside terrace with a solar panel roof; also a fitness room on a lower deck not shown here; and finally, generous stowage areas for guest luggage and linens (so the eager visitors don’t become permanent fixtures, perhaps?) Finally, No Question; The Netherlands’ Nick Meza has conjured up and executed a very modern, innovative yacht, as he set out to design. He is certain to be very proud to sign his name to this bold new concept.
