Ocean Alexander launches and sea trials OA82-foot motoryacht
The new Ocean Alexander 82-foot motoryacht is a success right from the start. Since launching, the new yacht has undergone sea trials with impressive (better-than-expected) results. Of note is the top end speed was originally calculated to be around low to mid 20-knots. The Ocean Alexander 82-footer surpassed that mark significantly during trials and under more real-world circumstances. The vessel was approximately 70% filled with fuel, 100% filled with water and had eleven persons onboard during the particular trials yet she registered a top speed of 28-knots!
The updated Ocean Alexander 82 Cockpit Motoryacht with twin MTU 1920HP engines, reached 28 knots during sea trials performed at the factory. The yacht ran with 70% fuel and 100% water, with 11 people on board, and a sea trial load of 73.5 tons. The acceleration was maximized to 2447 RPM in 29 seconds. The optimum cruise speed for the Ocean Alexander 82 is 18.5 knots @ 1800 RPM or 21.1 knots at 2000 RPM. The first will provide a range of 471 nautical miles or the latter at 409 nautical miles.
The Ocean Alexander 82 was able to reach record speeds due to several innovative upgrades within the construction of the yacht. Several weight-saving technologies were included such as: aluminum beams, advanced composite materials that are also used in aerospace and wind turbine industry, specialty select lightweight marine plywood, honeycomb plywood, aluminum honeycomb backing in select areas and cutting-edge underwater exhausts and through hulls to minimize drag.
The interiors are filled with the details that will please any discerning yacht owner with capacity to sleep 6 and a crew of 2-3. With that said Ocean Alexander yachts, is proud to announce the recent sea trial record set by the Ocean Alexander 82 Cockpit Motoryacht.
