New order for Fitzroy 37-meter sloop
Another yacht has been ordered from New Zealand yacht builder Fitzroy Yachts. She is to be a 37-meter all-aluminum sailing yacht with a sloop-rig. No variable keel on this one, her draft it constant via a fixed keel. In build she will be known as FY17 with design not surprisingly from Dubois Naval Architects.
On the inside, the design will bear the work of Design Unlimited. Actual construction on FY17 is expected to start full with plate-cutting in next month (May, 2012). Delivery according to schedule is set for early 2014. Accommodation will be in a master stateroom, two guest staterooms all of which will be located aft. There is provision for a fourth cabin for guests.
The design overall is a very sleek and strong one with racy low-profile lines. A raised-saloon coupled with a fixed bimini to the aft of it rise from the low-profile hull. FY17 is the result of a long two-year research process undertaken by the owners to find the perfect yard to construct their new vessel.
