Columbus Sport 130' Hybrid
Last year
YF let you know about a new project in the works by Columbus Yachts at the Palumbo yard, the same company that built the "Prima". She was known back then as the Columbus Sport 125' Hybrid. Now, the project has grown by a couple feet and is not a 130-foot build.
The new yacht is being built in all-aluminium and will have Hybrid techologies as her name suggests. The now 40-meter yacht is to use a system that features two electric engines run to the gear box. Imagine running this yacht up to 7.5-knots electrically without the use of the vessel's main engines for a time. This surely would reduce NOx and SOx emissions helping to maintain her proud notation of being green and hybrid.
Accommodation for up to nine guests in an owner’s suite and three guest cabins is the rationale to fit the envisioned layout. The interiors are coming from the guys at Hot Lab with Naval Artchitecture by Hydro Tec. The interior is expected to be adorned in prized materials to tease out the highly luxurious yet relaxing appeal the owner wanted.
Breccia Sarda and
Emperador Dark marbles go alongside
sicomoro wood and
teak. Additionally, polished
stainless steel, leather and other fabrics are juxtaposed to create textural values to the interior. Otherwise the 130+ foot yacht will comply with the MCA rules and be RINA classified. According to the schedule we can expect the new yacht to be delivered August 2013.
