Abeking & Rasmussen launches SWATH Patrol Boat "CĒSIS"
On Nov. 23rd 2011 the second SWATH A&R Patrol Boat for the Latvian Navy was launched at Abeking & Rasmussen Shipyard in Lemwerder. In the presence of the Latvian Ambassador to Germany and representatives of the town of Cēsis, the director of the museum for art and history, Mrs. Dace Tabūne, named the new Patrol Boat "CĒSIS".
The first of this 5 unit series, the "SKRUNDA", was already commissioned into the Latvian Navy on April 18th this year. The ships are built and delivered in cooperation with Riga Shipyard.
Cost effective patrol and surveillance and SAR missions in the territorial waters and the exclusive economical zone as well as participation in international assignments have to be seen as a major benefit of the new patrol boats.
By this ship the SWATH@A&R success story is continued. It is already the 15th vessel of the SWATH@A&R design. Since 1999 several vessels with a length of 25m, 40m, 50m and 60m are worldwide in service as Pilot Vessels, a private owned Motoryacht, service vessel for offshore windfarms and Offshore Patrol Boats.
