Heesen 40-meter Project "Galatea" nearing end of construction
Dutch yacht builder Heesen is currently working on finishing-up a 40-meter semi-displacement megayacht with launching in May. The all-aluminum megayacht is based off Heesen's very popular 3700 series with notable differences. The most glaring differences comes with the extra length overall as well as the change to the sundeck region. On the 3700 model, there is a totally open-air sundeck under the radar arch, however, with the 40-meter model, "Galatea", there is cover over and around the forward half of the space. It is an 85 square meter sun deck (which can be open or hard top). Aft of the enclosed region you can come outside and enjoy a jacuzzi and large sunpadded area...

The 800,000-lb. future queen of the Nordhavn fleet will remain in the test tank for approximately one month as systems are fired up and tested, effectively the last step prior to undergoing final ocean trials and ABS certification assessment in preparation for delivery – via her own bottom – to Vancouver, Canada.
After nearly five years from concept to construction, Pacific Asian Enterprises, Inc. is thrilled in anticipation at the impending unveiling of the Nordhavn 120. At the surface, the N120 is a naval engineering feat; as capable as it is luxurious. Lurssen launches 180-meter superyacht 'Azzam'
It was in May 2012 when the world got an initial glimpse of what would eventually become the world's largest superyacht, 'Azzam'. This happened when Lurssen was forced to pre-launch the behemoth in order to fit the bow on to the front of the hull and also transfer her to Lurssen's enormous floating dry dock. She then vanished from view until the last few days when Lurssen removed the front door of the dock giving the world a definitive view of the world's largest superyacht. This morning, the German custom superyacht builder launched Azzam from the floating dry dock, effectively knocking the 536-foot Blohm & Voss "Eclipse" from her number 1 pedestal.
As you can imagine, not a lot is known about this very large superyacht at the moment. However, her design is completely by Italian design house Nauta Yacht Design...
ADM Kiel/Nobiskrug launch 73-meter superyacht "Odessa II"
Hull 423 has been launched with little fanfare but enough to capture our attention. You will remember her sister, finished as "Plan B", hull 423 is called "Odessa II". She was seen briefly last year when she left Abu Dhabi Mar Kiel for Nobiskrug for finishing and now she has re-emerged for launching. She is presently in the water and at the outfitting/finishing pier.
Odessa II has been designed by Focus Yacht Design with an interior by H2 Yacht Design. It should not be much of a surprise that the design firm worked on the interior of the owner's previous yacht. The interior design on the new Odessa II is in a 'New Hampton' style. Accommodation onboard is for twelve guests in six staterooms.
The 73-meter superyacht differs from her sister primarily in colour scheme. She has a grey hull with grey accents along the white superstructure...

A New Superyacht Species
Christopher Seymour Designs has developed a new superyacht species appropriately
named - "Elementum", which is Latin for Element. The Elementum concept presents a
shocking silhouette, challenging traditional maritime elements with a militant, machete-
like profile that is one part bleeding edge yacht design and one part Alien with an Attitude.
Chris is a long-time member of YachtForums (screen name - '84far') with several notable designs to his credit including, "Alpine"; a 122 meter superyacht and "Sunset Heaven"; a 96-meter plumb bow design. Flevoship launches 29.26-meter "Belle de Jour"
Dutch yard Flevoship launched the 29.26-meter motoryacht "Belle de Jour" recently. She bears a design by Pieter Beeldsnijder fleshed out with classical elements. The interior has been done to the owner's tastes. Speaking of the owner, they are a repeat client. Belle de Jour's accommodation is set out for six guests, a full-beam master stateroom and two double staterooms. The doubles can actually be combined to become one large VIP-type stateroom if needed.
For a pocket-megayacht, Belle de Jour packs some nice features. She has been optimized to be run with minimal crew and to be sailed by the owner himself. The interior is nice and comfortable boasting Art Deco touches. There are two side balconies, a space to keep a small vehicle as well as space for two tenders onboard. Belle de Jour is powered via twin 440kW MAN engines...
