News: Winch Designs Unveils 88M Project 'Fusion'

Project 'Fusion' Unveiled At 2024 Palm Beach Show

Well-noted design firm Winch Designs just unveiled the design for an 88-meter called Project 'Fusion' on the opening day of the 2024 edition of the Palm Beach International Boat Show. The new design is envisioned for younger clientele with its layout and interior dominated by neutral but tactile finishes according to Winch. The new 88-meter yacht would be built by Feadship.

Onboard spaces are geared towards relaxation and wellness with a two-level beach club area being a focal point. The aft lower deck is the traditional location of a beach club on most yachts particularly a larger yacht like an 88-meter. Fusion has this plus an upper area which is on the aft main deck where an aft cockpit area would typically be. Instead, there is a pool and directly adjacent, a sunken seating area that shares the glass-edge of the pool. There is wide sofa style seating on either side.

A large central staircase takes guests down into the lower level of the beach club which is fitted with a jacuzzi and several built-ins for randomized seating around the space. Additionally there are showers if you want to cool down quickly after a hot-tub soak. Shell doors lower to the water level adding natural lighting to the space as well as connection to the exterior.

The main interior carries more of the tactile and earthy values as seen in the salon areas. A bit more generosity is given with the color in the salon as emerald accents foster some contrast to the neutral palette. Although there is a uniformity in the furniture pieces they are also unique enough to be tasteful visual forms by themselves.

Its not just color that gives distinction and contrast it is also the juxtaposition of materials and the direction of materials relative to one another. As we see here in this dining space that can flow seamlessly to the exterior of the aft deck there are several directions the same timber is flowing either on the floor or the ceiling.

The owner not only gets a sprawling compound onboard but it comes in the form of a duplex. Yes, the master accommodation encompasses space across two decks.
